Dress Rehearsal and Picture Day Schedules!
Although the dance classes are all assigned to either Blue or Yellow Cast, the pictures and rehearsals have classes from both casts intermixed on every day (to accommodate conflicts). I am not printing a schedule to hand out because it would be a small booklet, so please use the google sheet to navigate your classes.
  • Find each of your classes in the lefthand column
  • Read across and see which day your class has pictures, studio dress rehearsal, and stage dress rehearsal
  • Reminder that ALL DRESS REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY!!!! (and "dress rehearsal" means in full costume)
  • Picture Days 5/23 and 5/24 3:45-8:30 pm- while not mandatory we do hope that everyone will come, even if you aren't ordering pictures. These photos line our halls and are such a great keepsake.  More Picture Day Info listed in next section below.
  • Studio Dress Rehearsals 5/25, 5/26, or 5/30- Please do not come early, there is no room for you! Please come fully dressed for your first rehearsal and change into dance shoes in the building. Those with multiple classes may have rehearsals planned 5 min apart. You will bring your costume basket (laundry basket with all supplies, costumes, shoes, etc) into the classroom of your first rehearsal and then change in that room between rehearsals. You will be wearing a body liner if you have costume changes so you can just change in the classroom. We know you have these back to back, so you don't need to panic. Also, if changing your hair to different styles is difficult during the studio dress rehearsals, just leave it in a bun instead. We will allow a max of 2 guests in the studio rehearsal per dancer.
  • Stage Dress Rehearsals 5/31 or 6/1 - you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring your dancers early to rehearsal to watch a few other dances before they go on stage, especially for younger/newer performers. You are also welcome to stay with them to watch as much as you want after their rehearsal is done. Watching other classes on stage is incredibly important to the development of their understanding of performance. Each class has a call time (in parentheses), and a stage time. Each class will have 8-10 minutes on stage. It is vital that your dancer is in the auditorium by their call time. They will sit and wait to be called, but sometimes we are running 5 minutes ahead, or 5 minutes behind. Please don't cut it close, it just makes it hard on your dancer.
  • Performance Order - I will send out another chart next week that lists the performance order of each show. This will help you plan with your dancer for their costume/hair changes. We will have extra helpers available to handle quick changes as needed.
  • Regular classes will be done this Saturday, May 20th. You will not have your regular class once we start dress rehearsals/pictures.

Google Sheets Pro Tip: You can edit the google sheet to just list your classes (or highlight them!). After opening the schedule sheet, click on File > Make a Copy > Save wherever you want and call it what you want. Then open THAT version and you can sort, highlight, color code if you have multiple children, etc. You can sort each day individually or even delete lines that are not your family!

We look forward to bringing you our traditional Spring Recital performance at CGHS.  Please read the important Newsletter Emails that are being sent every few weeks to stay up to date! If you are not receiving them, please use this link to sign up to get them, and let us know so we can forward the last few to you!

Recital Cast Assignments:
Each class has been assigned to either Blue or Yellow cast, it is the same cast as winter (*except Modern 4/5 has been informed and changed and M2/3-1 is back to Yellow Cast as originally planned).  This "Class Resources Grid"  will tell you which cast each class is in.  It also has a link to the Vimeo folder for any class videos available for home practice.  Please encourage practicing!

Dance Recital Costumes will be distributed May 7-13 during Parent Viewing Week.  All accounts must be paid in full for costumes to be released.
  • Please assess if you need a different size tights before opening the package. We can swap them in the front office, but only if unopened.
  • Hair/Shoe/Accessory instructions will come home with their costume.

Picture Day Additional Information:

Tuesday 5/23 and Wednesday 5/24 are picture days in the classrooms at CGPAC!  Schedule will be posted with the rehearsal schedule.

We are handing out order forms in class this week, and will also have them available at the studio on your picture day. Each dancer taking an individual picture or ordering a group shot will need a separate form for each class.  It is how the photographer knows which student is which and what they are ordering (what type and how many individual shots to take).

Please arrive in full hair/makeup/costume about 5 minutes before your picture time with your form filled out. If you have multiple picture times close together you will be able to use the front dance room and dressing rooms to change at the studio. Some of you will have 5 or 6 pictures basically in a row!
Siblings: If you want to order a siblings dance picture, you can bring the additional sibling dancer into one of the picture times together. We can take an individual, and then add their sibling(s) in for an additional shot. A separate picture package would be ordered if you want this.

If ordering 1-3 packages, or just class photos, consider prepaying online instead of paying in person. Instructions on form. If you choose this, please print your receipt to turn in with your order forms.

Discounts for bulk ordering: If your family is ordering 4 or more packages, you can take 25% off each package! To take advantage of this, you will need to pay in person at picture day. This is only for print or digital packages (which include a class photo), not for a la carte class photos.

No purchase required, but you are asked to attend picture day so we have your dancers in our class pictures!

Sign up to work at a recital!
We really need your help!  Every family should have a family member helping at one of the shows.  We have a big job to do and need you to help us keep everyone safe and the show on track!

NOW CLOSED: Dress Rehearsal and Picture Day Conflict Submission Form:

In order to set our students up to succeed, we require attendance at our MANDATORY dress rehearsals (one at the studio, and one on stage). Practicing together in costume with all performers in attendance before going to the theatre is a must. When we are on stage, we are worried about spacing, microphones, lighting, entrances/exits. We cannot fix costume issues or choreography. That is why these are MANDATORY.

With that said, we do everything we can to work around things you cannot change (a school concert, graduation, etc). It is a complicated process and Miss Amy will work hard to find a timeslot for each class that can have full attendance.

Thank you for looking ahead at sport schedules, graduations, 8th gr. dances, etc so we can make this all work! Note that too many absences in April and May can mean being out of part of your recital dance. Please understand that the teacher teaches whether you are there or not, and there may be consequences to absences.

If you have any conflicts, please fill out this google conflict form to use to accurately submit anything you absolutely cannot work around.

Sign up to work at a rehearsal, a performance, or to help with other preparations and costume cleaning.  We are counting on everyone working at least one shift per dancer (for level 3 and under please chaperone). Each separate sign up page is linked below each category.

Early Release Permission Form:  If you must take your student before they are done with the show, you must print this form, text it to Miss Amy for approval 224-622-5949. Dancers in Kindergarten and younger will be released to their parents at intermission of each performance.  All other dancers are expected to remain backstage and will have a final bow with the cast. This is only for things that absolutely need to happen, it is vital that we keep track of every student at all times and taking them early causes disruption backstage. Thank you.
