CGPAC 2022-2023 CLASS RESOURCES GRID

Get organized: Below are links to printable and fillable pdf forms to keep each of your students organized.  Have them fill in their class codes so you have it all in one place!  And if they are old enough, then they can do it themselves!

PRINTABLE CGPAC CLASS/ZOOM SCHEDULE
CGPAC STUDENT LIABILITY WAIVER

Please complete and submit the above form prior to class. This is required for both in-person and Zoom classes.

Dance Class Observation forms:
Please use this link to print out the correct form for your class and fill out if you are ill or injured and watching from home via Zoom.  Please scan and email the completed form to CGPAC1@gmail.com

While taking class from home:
  • Ensure that your student is dressed appropriately for dance class. We are still enforcing dress code. Dress code is about more than dressing in a safe/appropriate manner for class, it is about respect. More than ever, having students dressed appropriately will ensure that teachers can see body alignment. Students must be in dance shoes for class.
  • Provide a safe place for your student to take class. Be sure the space is free from obstacles that could be dangerous, and that the floor is safe. If tapping on the flooring is not possible, please have the student take class in ballet or jazz shoes. A piece of plywood is an excellent option for tapping!
  • Plug in your device/computer for class. Taking a class via Zoom uses a lot of battery, try to be plugged in! And if you have the ability to view your computer/iPad/phone thru an HDMI cable hooked to a larger TV (to function like a monitor) that is a great help for learning.
  • Supervise younger dancers. Students in Kindergarten or younger must have an adult in the room at all times.
  • Internet Check: If you have devices that can turn off wifi while your student is in "class", disable wifi on those devices. Taking a few devices off the wifi will make it function much better!
  • Placement of camera: Be sure the teacher can see the student's whole body, and mark out on the floor for younger students the space in which they need to stay to remain visible.
  • Connect to larger monitor if possible:  If you can plug the student's device into a TV via HDMi cable, they will be able to stand further away (so we can see their whole body) and still see the teacher well on a larger screen from further away.  Ask if you want advice on this!  Watching on any computer or TV is so much more effective than and phone or tablet.
  • Talk to your kids about how you expect them to take class. Just like in regular class, we need students to be attentive and responsive. Teachers will call on them and have them go one at a time sometimes. Have a discussion about how this works on the screen (how to mute their mic), and that they just need to do their best!

Expectations for Zoom Class: Like everything else, we ask for your patience as we navigate this new teaching platform. There are some things we will be unable to do in virtual class for safety reasons, therefore, on-line classes may follow a different format than in-person classes.

Starting with Summer 2020, all Zoom classes will have a 5 minute space between them in order for the teacher to end on class and have time to start the next class on time.

As we adapt the way we teach, I are reminded of the CGPAC mission statement that Miss Robin and I wrote in 1999:

To educate children and adults about the arts, develop their skills as well as their self-esteem, have fun, and give students practical skills for life.

We never set out to churn out professional performers (although we have many times). We set out to develop and nurture young lives as they navigate life. We strive to make them problem solvers and self advocates. We hope that getting through this together will give us the opportunity to help our students learn in new ways, learn about new things, and certainly learn that they CAN adapt to a new environment and still SUCCEED!
